Comments
In the course of actions taken at a new development area over the remains of a small vicus consisting of several strip houses, this suspected area was prospected during the excavations. No evidence of a continuation of the Roman strip house settlement to the east could be found.
Unfortunately, bushy undergrowth, uneven ground, a dense layer of crops and several trees led to unfavorable measurement conditions and thus to a very noisy measurement image.
Increasing, geologically caused soil compaction can be seen to the north and east (line)
.
Tree positions (circles) and the surrounding root system lead to areas of increased soil resistance at the northern edge of the survey area.
Longer vertical compaction lines (red) certainly have metrological reasons, especially because of their exact correspondence with the measuring path width and direction. Due to the lack of width (measuring resolution a=50cm) they are out of the question for Roman wall foundations, which are rarely found to be less than one meter wide, even if the measurement direction coincides by chance .
With a few exceptions, the shorter horizontal compaction lines (green) can alsobe excluded due to their lack of width.
Nor do they, taken as a whole, provide any hint of a building or room-like form.
